Time to
relax with two weeks in the sun
You’ve
checked in your bags and through passport control
Walk past
the shops, into the airport’s sole
You walk to
your gate to check the plane is there
You scan the
area and find the perfect chair
You people
watch while reading your book
Using it as
a distraction while you secretly look
A mother
walking down with three kids and a pram
One sleeping,
one eating and one screaming mam
Dad walks
behind with the passports and ticket
A child
drops some food and picks it up to lick it
In the
corner is curled a man with his headphones on
By the look
of his flickering eyes his conscience gone
A young girl
engrossed in the latest gossip magazine
Just wanting
to find out about the celebrity social scene
A
businessman working on his overused laptop
Switching on
his wifi so the internet won’t stop
An elderly
woman in a wheelchair pushed to the queue
Her helper
spins her round as she now needs the loo
A teenager sitting
by a wall plug charging his new ipad
Won’t leave
the house without it, seems rather sad
You check
you passport and ticket as time ticks away
Look out of
the window, the clouds are so grey
At last a
bit of movement from the airline personnel
It seems a
bag has been lost on the luggage carousel
A name
called out ‘it’s not mine’ I gladly say
Hoping to
get my journey eventually underway
The plane is
cleaned and the boarding about to commence
Adult with
kids first now that makes sense
Seat belts
on and engines ready to start
Sit back
relax we’re about to depart
