One Way Traffic

I always give while you seem to take

You never realise our friendships at stake

Wanting me around when things not so good

Our friendship definitely as clear as mud

You organise an event and don’t ever include me

Friendships a two way street, wouldn’t you agree

A bond we had is stretching to the very limit

Our friendship crashing down from the highest summit

Torn apart by the dilemma thrusting its self ahead

‘Your friendship means the word’ you nonchalantly said

Why when I need you you’re nowhere to be seen

I think it’s ultimately time to wash our friendship clean

It will hurt me to say this but we need to move on

The friendship that was there has finally gone

One way traffic I just couldn’t do anymore

Your selfish ways have damaged me to the core

Trapped

Trapped in a dead end job with no where to go

My self esteem at an all time low

Trapped in a relationship when I just want to leave

Hurting inside not wanting to deceive

Trapped with a sky high mortgage too hard to pay

How did things end up this way?

Trapped by society who won’t accept me

Hiding behind the mask they see

Trapped by my mind that thoughts run through

Should I open up and talk to you?

Trapped by my demons who eat me inside

Searching for help or maybe a guide

Trapped by a workload hovering over my head

Today I should have stayed in bed

Trapped by a rat race speeding too fast

These feelings I hope will not last

English Football

So another game watched and the spectators can’t cope

The game petered out and didn’t give us much hope

The F.A has set a target but is it a true reflection

After seeing the game it may need further inspection

Where did it all go wrong for the birth of football?

When are we going to have this so called windfall?

Every championship we enter this over hyped expectation

With defeat we turn to the next football generation

We get a vast amount of coaches through level one and level two

But then cost and experience halts the likes of me and you

Every coach expected to coach the same way

Like robotic coaches unable to have their say

Maybe I’m seeing this in its simplest form

You pass the ball and move surely that’s the norm

Complicating the game so players don’t understand

Six coaches on the side to give a helping hand

Other countries seem to have passed us by

So the question must be asked, how and why?

No investment in grass roots players left to rot

Tossed back from academies and now forgot

So what’s the answer to our football problems?

How do we lift this football nation from the doldrums?

Investment in grassroots is surely a must

We have to believe, we have to trust

School boy football is sadly in decline

We must not ignore this obvious sign

Less and less children wanting to play

The fun taken out of football such a sad day

I hope Greg Dyke wakes up this failing sport

Before we lose a generation of support

I love a tournament and watching my home team

But can we win it? Unfortunately it’s still a dream

I know you're somewhere out there

I can’t find you round here

You’re in other place

I’ll keep on searching hard

So that we can embrace

I’ve searched high and low

I’ve searched far and wide

I’ve tried internet dating sites

To find my beautiful bride

You’re round the next corner

You’re in the next street

It won’t be too long now

Until we finally meet

Maybe fate will help me out

And bring us both together

Then the searching can stop

And we can be as one forever

But until that special day

I’ll continue on my quest

For my standards they won’t drop

As I only want the best

I Saw You Different Tonight

I thought it was going to be the same old night

Meeting friends, love was never in sight

Then you walked in the door like many times in the past

My head suddenly turned my heart focused at last

You’re hair flowed like never before

My heart found what my eyes had saw

You glided in the room unknowing of my lust

I needed to talk to you, really, I must

We spoke with friends in a tight small group

My head and my heart at last on one loop

My eyes fixed, my ears ready to listen

You stood by the window your face a glisten

We spoke so briefly I didn’t know what to say

I put some money in the jukebox it was ready to play

The song began our hands came together

I wouldn’t let go, not now not forever

I thank my luck stars each and every night

When I look up to the sky our star shines bright

A friendship that has blossomed into something more

Thank you for walking through that bar room door

Airport Lounge

The date has arrived your holiday has begun

Time to relax with two weeks in the sun

You’ve checked in your bags and through passport control

Walk past the shops, into the airport’s sole

You walk to your gate to check the plane is there

You scan the area and find the perfect chair

You people watch while reading your book

Using it as a distraction while you secretly look

A mother walking down with three kids and a pram

One sleeping, one eating and one screaming mam

Dad walks behind with the passports and ticket

A child drops some food and picks it up to lick it

In the corner is curled a man with his headphones on

By the look of his flickering eyes his conscience gone

A young girl engrossed in the latest gossip magazine

Just wanting to find out about the celebrity social scene

A businessman working on his overused laptop

Switching on his wifi so the internet won’t stop

An elderly woman in a wheelchair pushed to the queue

Her helper spins her round as she now needs the loo

A teenager sitting by a wall plug charging his new ipad

Won’t leave the house without it, seems rather sad

You check you passport and ticket as time ticks away

Look out of the window, the clouds are so grey

At last a bit of movement from the airline personnel

It seems a bag has been lost on the luggage carousel

A name called out ‘it’s not mine’ I gladly say

Hoping to get my journey eventually underway

The plane is cleaned and the boarding about to commence

Adult with kids first now that makes sense

Seat belts on and engines ready to start

Sit back relax we’re about to depart

The treadmill of Life

Ever feel like your life is standing still

Always busy but your life you can’t fulfil

Constantly running but never finish the race

Wanting to stop this over hyped pace

Trying to change the direction you’re taking

Just wanting to create a new awakening

Hard to see the world with blinkered eyes

Carry on treading and hope the time flies

Work, eat and sleep is all we really do

A better way of living is definitely due

Tired of the same old structured routine

Needing to find a different social scene

All is not lost as we struggle to change

At first your life seems particularly strange

Diversity is the key to changing it all

Get of the treadmill and don’t be afraid to fall

My Secret Crush

I’ve kept my distance admiring you from a far

To me you will always be the brightest star

In a world so dark you lift the gloom

Shining so bright in the darkest room

Girls want to be you for you personality and look

The day we met I was like a fish to your hook

I’ve tried so many times to find the courage to ask you out

Planning it in my mind the answer is never in doubt

We’ve flirted together, laughed and teased

My beating heart you certainly pleased

You’ll never know my feelings inside

This secret crush I will always hide

Give Me A Reason

You tell me no without looking at my face

Telling me you just need some time and space

Something is wrong but you won’t begin to share

Just look at the walls with a silent cold felt stare

I wander is it over but you won’t tell me why

I search for the truth not another pitiful lie

Your heart is cold as you stare right through me

Our love is worth fighting for but only I can see

If it’s something I’ve done let me put it right

The fire burns low but hopefully still in sight

Our relationship always solid only recently cracked

I came home one day and now your bag is packed

Give me a reason and I’ll sadly let you go

Although not happy at least then I’ll know

You can’t explain how we have come to this

As you walk away your love I’ll always miss

Summer of Dreams

It began with a perfect wedding day
In a place called Anglesey
Two special people together forever
Will hopefully one day be three?

A drive home with a friend
Through the dark roads at night
One more quiet lonely sleep
For my transatlantic flight

The heat outside the airport
Nearly melted me away
I waited for my lift to arrive
He’s gone to the wrong airport bay

A week coaching the punxy teams
A new formation they won’t forget
They need to work hard and believe
And more wins I’m sure they’ll get

A weekend free and off to the park
A music concert about the blues
One man drank too much beer
And couldn’t find the loos

Back at Saegertown and a familiar field
All lined and ready to coach
A different formation for the girls
But perfectly they always approach

A farewell to my extended family
I’ll see you all again next year
My words begin to break up
As a shed a heartbreaking tear

Heading to a warmer climate
Orlando is where I travel
Disney, Sea World and Universal
Let the fun times begin to unravel

An unbelievable 10 days with family
Living it large in the Florida sun
Rides, roller coasters and Mickey Mouse
All part of the summer of fun

Now that I’m back home
All the memories locked away
Some things that I’ve had to leave out
But that’s for another day

So people remember take a break
And let you fun light beam
Hope your wishes come true
Make it a reality and not a dream

Waves of Emotion

As I sit here alone on the white sandy beach

My emotions up and down, out of my reach

The sound of the waves crashing through my mind

Searching for an answer unable to find

The cloudless sky hovering above my head

Thinking of the things I should have said

One minute I laugh then suddenly cry

Staring out to the sea and asking why oh why

Hating the world where we currently reside

The hurt from others I can no longer hide

Wishing I could end it with a magic potion

My feelings inside like a wave of emotion

If I Had One Wish

I wouldn’t wish for a lottery win
And vast amounts of money

I wouldn’t wish to tour the world

Or live somewhere sunny

I wouldn’t wish for expensive clothes

To place upon my back

I wouldn’t wish for the finest drinks

To look good in my wine rack

I wouldn't wish to build my dream home
And live my life as a King
I wouldn't wish to make a record
So people could hear me singI wouldn’t wish to build my dream home

And live my life as a king

I wouldn’t wish to make a record

So people could hear me sing

If I had one wish

Do you know what I would do?

I’d wish to spend the day and night

Lying next to you
