Mum

Always there to give me a loving hug

Provided soup when I got the dreaded bug

Showed me the path that would guide me right

And when I was young you tucked me at night

You allowed me to grow but I knew you were there

I made many mistakes but you didn’t care

I could always come back to you no matter what I’d done

In your eyes I was always the perfect son

Maybe I never really appreciated what you gave up

You sat there quietly drinking the tea from your cup

Only now as I’m older I see everything more clear

You gave me a great life I have no fear

For me it’s not just one day you’re a special mum

I’ll let everyone know, I’ll keep banging your drum

Thanks for making me who I am this very day

I hope you have a wonderful wonderful mother’s day!

Give a little

Sports Relief has come round so quick

Helping the needy and the sick

Giving money to those who are desperately in need

Forgetting all are own personal greed

Watching the short films of children dying

It breaks my heart, can’t stop crying

A doctor unable to save someone’s life

The person gone someone’s mother and wife

We can changes the lives of people we don’t know

Instead of hurting them with a fatal blow

The world as one moving closer each day

Turning enemies to friends I’ll continue to pray

I know it’s tough but donate what you can

Even if you are not a Sports Relief fan

In these times we should love not hate

Do what you can and please donate

Chasing Rainbows

We’ve all seen the rainbow

A perfect arc in the sky

The world a wash with colour

Emotions running high

That one moment in time

We dream our wildest dreams

Hope for the future

Our life now clearly beams

Thoughts light up our inside

A light that’s been turned on

A dream that’s not forgotten

Then rainbow’s slowly gone

We keep on searching quietly

For the rainbow not far away

The dream we keep on living

Chasing a rainbow another day

Lonely Heart

Searching for something that isn’t around

Always lost but wanting to be found

Like a deserted island I stand silently the only one

The burning candle light has finally gone

The heart’s job to keep me staying alive

But without love how can I survive

The clock’s ticking, time is slowly running out

A relationship is becoming a certain doubt

I open my heart but have been used in the past

A single character in word wide cast

Another emotional game of relationship chess

Always ends up an emotional mess

Dating site like looking for a needle in a haystack

A message sent but no reply back

What’s the answer, where do I start?

Will someone fill this lonely heart?

Turning your life around

Born in to a world at a time of depression

So much hatred so much aggression

Unable to escape the housing estate

Leaving your life in the hand of fate

A community that relied on helping each other

Every man your uncle, every woman a mother

Twenty kids and one adult on another day out

Taken to the park so we could scream and shout

Growing older mixing with the wrong crowd

Lying to parents because you wasn’t allowed

School was a place you got a mark then left

Thinking it was cool to do shoplifting theft

Heroin abuse on the rise as people get high

Not knowing that having too much you could almost die

People giving orders to rob the latest stuff

Hurting because your parents don’t earn enough

Part of a gang that made others feel threatened

Not knowing this life would lead to a dead end

Sudden realisation that this life is not for you

There is only one person who can change what you do

Accepted by a college a fork in the road

Choose the right path for your career to unfold

An opportunity taken now time to give back

Helping youngsters to get on the right track

A fundraiser organised for a special holiday treat

An adventure begins for the kids to find their feet

Laughter and smiles return to their faces

As they realise the world has many undiscovered places

You are an inspiration to me and many many more

As you continue to open life’s closed door

Continuing to spread hope and belief everywhere

If only more people would take note and show care

I never knew my daddy

I was born into the world

With a wonderful mum and dad

The perfect two parents

Everyone would wish they had

But I was so young back then

When daddy was taken away

I close my eyes so tight

A perfect picture on a gloomy day

He fought for his country

And didn’t once complain or moan

How I would give everything

To hear his voice once more on the phone

I only had a short time

But he showered me with love

Everyday I feel his presence

Looking down from heaven above
