Keep on Searching

I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

Every day creates an obstacle

I keep on searching hoping for more

Who will be my oracle?

I’ll climb the highest mountain

Swim the deepest sea

I’ll walk the toughest terrain

Just for us to be you and me

Just when I think I’ve found you

And my search is now compete

Another hoop I jump through

Back on the searching seat

Will the search for you ever end?

Can my life be blessed?

What message to I have to send?

Until I can finally rest

My search each day continues

How my search has come and gone

I’ll let you know the good news

The day I meet the one

Happiness

A smile from someone we adore

Or a laugh as we accidentally fall

The love from a partner as we watch TV

This is happiness for little old me

Fresh cut grass on a summer’s day

Missing the window cleaner so I don’t have to pay

Staring at a sunset in a foreign land

Having a great day out that’s not been planned

Being with friends the time passes fast

Sitting in a traffic jam knowing I’m not last

Running a race for a special charity

Making a speech with purpose and clarity

Chilling at night watching a lonely star

Reaching across for your favourite chocolate bar

Making a wish that may just come true

These are some of the things I intend to do

Being on stage making people laugh

Soaking up the sun then hitting the bath

Hiking up a mountain and watching for danger

Making conversation with a complete stranger

Alone

Mr Popular during the day

All alone during the night

Always happy so they say

But they’re not always right

Listening to others as they talk

Nobody hears my lonely cry

Watching them leave as they walk

Wanting this loneliness to die

Happiest when in a crowd

Telling a joke or two

Laughing with friends so loud

Then it’s one from a few

After a night I walk thought the door

Again silence all around

I want to scream and fall to the floor

And quietly lie on the ground

Next day and we start over again

And no one answers the phone

Another day of pouring rain

Another day alone

Boston Marathon

We lined up to take our place

In this years Boston Marathon race

Spirits high, adrenalin thumping

Heart racing, blood pumping

The gruelling route squeezing your energy

The finish line a perfect imagery

Step by step a personal victory

Wanting to be part of this amazing history

The crowd’s applause keeps me going strong

I look up to the finish, see something wrong

Smoke is flooding the street line ahead

I fear the worst, people dead

Rushing to help those runners in need

An injured man, a young child bleed

People searching for the family or friend

Making calls and messages to send

An ambulance man guides me away

I beg to him ‘Please let me stay’

Wondering around can’t believe my eyes

The air filled with other people’s cries

My happiest day has turned so sour

The injured toll rising by the hour

I made a good friend at the race start

Throughout the race we drifted apart

I see his blood shirt draped on a door

My knees buckled I fell to the floor

I try and rush over to the hospital bay

A young innocent man taken away

His last breath he struggled quietly to say

I just wanted to race in Boston today

Our hands gripped tightly one last time

Suddenly the impact of this evil crime

I can’t understand the criminal’s mentality

Wanting to cause this much fatality

Innocent lives will never be the same

Is this all just a political game?

I’d like to hope that good will win

Too much evil is surely a sin

For this terrorist fight I won’t abort

I’ll stand side by side to show support

Guardian Angel

Ever feel like some is watching over you

Guiding you when decisions are to be made

Often thinking ‘What do I do?’

Just trying to make the grade

Who or what is this mystery guide

Keeping you safe from harm

Standing with you side by side

Linking your perfectly cupped arm

Is this someone who has passed on by?

Or someone you never met

Did this someone see you cry?

Something they’ll never forget

Next time you’re feeling down and low

And you have something to tell

Remember you have someone in tow

It’s your beautiful Guardian Angel

Reflections of Friendship

Sometimes in life you have to reflect

For your sanity you must try and protect

When your weary head is on the ground

Force it up and look around

For you will see what other people see

A world of joy I’m sure you’ll agree

From the tiniest hands grows a handful of love

To the biggest heart giving the love

You may not see people who mean the most

But their kind friendship you always boast

The smile they give is honest and true

Your friendship sealed with more than glue

So take a moment to reflect on life

Carve your thoughts with the emotional knife

Keep those close who share the same thought

For friendship like this can not be bought!

Parents

A Parents job is never done

Even when you’re over 21

They’re always there by your side

Out in front they never hide

Unfortunately some parents just don’t care

Children have problems but they aren’t aware

They take their money from the state

Having more children making others irate

This week in the news it’s all been bad

Those poor children, that evil dad

A suppose plan that went too far

A justice system has them behind a bar

Another example of a despicable act

But there are great parents and that’s a fact

These are the ones who don’t cry fame

Or look for others to hurt or blame

A parent’s job is always hard

Decisions to make putting up your guard

Please be good to the children you had

For you are blessed to be called mum and dad

“It will happen” so they say!

I’m always told there is someone for everyone

But I’m not sure it’s true

I’m always told you’ll find her when you’re not looking

But that just won’t do

I’ve tried dating sites and uploaded my profile

But girls just look at the picture

I’ve had some emails but they never go any further

How I nearly caught her

I’ve tried chatting girls up in a bar but can’t seem to do it

They just think I’m funny

I’ve been on first dates and I have a story to tell

Some wanted to boil a bunny!

I’ve made mistakes and took friendship for something more

My emotional wall down

Girls have flirted with me but I never saw the signs

Oh dear, what a clown!

So as I reach the age that I’m ready to settle down

Have children one day

I hear the same lines that I’ve heard all too often

“It’ll happen” so they say
