Stand Up

Standing up for something you believe in

Standing up for something that is right

It’s difficult to do it alone

But you have to carry on the fight

Believe in what you say

Believe in what you do

Believe in how you act

Believe in what is true

At times you want to quit

Your back may be up against a wall

Dig down deep and be strong

Don’t let your strength and beliefs fall

Continue to break down the barriers

Continue to find the strength within

Your friends will be by your side

Making sure this fight you win

Believe in what you say

Believe in what you do

Believe in how you act

Believe in what is true

And when the time comes to shine

Hold your head up with pride

For you stood strong through it all

Now we walk a different stride

Take Me Away

Take me away to a land that’s forgotten

Where the trees are green and the fruit never rotten

Snow on the mountains above the cool water lake

White sand on the beach with an ice cream and flake

Take me away so I can leave my troubles behind

Forgetting the worries and the routinely daily grind

Dealing with problems to many of them to mention

Trying desperately to escape this real life detention

Take me away so I can find love in my heart

Whether a person, a place or a piece of cultural art

Let me discover something that’s never been found

It may be above or below the uninvestigated ground

Take me away to a blue cloudless sky

Where the sun beats down and the wind breezes by

Let me relax in your arms through day and night

Allow me to be free like a bird in full flight

Overworked Society

A 24 seven society with no time to spare

People self involved and show very little care

Working on the clock throughout the busy week

The future not bright and looking rather bleak

Working all the time, always open never close

Is this the life we wanted? is this the life we chose?

Busy rushing round no time to say hello

No time to watch our children simply smile and grow

Family time difficult as someone is always out

Sunday shut down is something I’ll continue to tout

Giving up a days wage is worth the price to pay

Together with the family for a special kind of day

Take time out of your job and overworked timetable

Give time back to society and make it stable

Talk to your children, your family and your neighbour

Grabbing back society is worth the unpaid labour

Why?

Flashed across our television screen

Another crime nearly going unseen

A young boy taken so sadly away

Thinking that he was going to play

A child who won’t fulfil his dream

A mother who made her child scream

Unaware of what was about to come

A trusted mother who is low life scum

How can anyone do this to a child?

It makes me upset it makes me riled

I thought we were a civilised society

But we’ve created unrest and anxiety

Why this hatred towards a small boy

These hatred feelings we should never employ

I hope no one hears your echoless cry

Crocodile tears for an emotionless lie

Poor Mikaeel rest in peace little one

Your time on earth has sadly gone

Now an angel looking down from above

Forever in our thoughts all our love

She’s not you

It started as a feeling deep down in my soul

A furnace burning using large black coal

The feeling unusual I’ve never felt before

Messing with my mind and ripping out my core

I’ve met other women all of whom seem great

The feeling of friendship is how I end the date

Walk away empty but why I haven’t a clue

Listening to my heart tell me she’s not you

You turned my head and opened my heart

When I see you around I never want to part

Your smile and eyes have me mesmerized

I feel as though I’ve won the lottery winning prize

Another girl came on the scene a while back

We had a few dates and my heart did crack

But again we met and other feelings they flew

What can I say this girl just wasn’t you

I’ll wait a while longer if that’s what it takes

Prepared to risk everything for the highest stakes

I’ve tried to take a chance and gamble with one or two

But to put it simply they’re just not you

School Song

If you want to achieve

Only yourself to impress

You first must believe

And you will find your success

Like a seed we were sewn

Like a ship on the sees

Like a plane that has flown

Like the wind in the breeze

We all started so young

Together one school

The first song that we sung

Education our jewel

Like a seed we were sewn

Like a ship on the sees

Like a plane that has flown

Like the wind in the breeze

Supported each other

Through thick and through thin

Like a sister and brother

We didn’t give in

Like a seed we were sewn

Like a ship on the sees

Like a plane that has flown

Like the wind in the breeze

Now we are growing

Our lives you’ve affected

Our smiles are now glowing

Our education respected

Like a seed we were sewn

Like a ship on the sees

Like a plane that has flown

Like the wind in the breeze

The Gym

The New Year started and a new resolution

Joining the gym is the only solution

You’re certain you’ll go at least three times a week

A gym partner is someone you purposely seek

You view the local gym just down the road

Go after work to get rid of the Christmas load

The cost seems reasonable you sign the contract

Knowing the hot staff will always distract

You turn up the following day towel in hand

To gain a better body in this fitness land

The room a forest full of fitness machine

Don’t forget your towel to wipe them all clean

The big guys come in and head straight for the weights

They look in their mirror waiting for their mates

Ladies come in colour co-ordinated ready to workout

Their fashion sense is never in doubt

On the machines you look straight ahead

Working too fast you feel slightly dead

The person next door is pumping like mad

Wishing you had a pint of what they’ve had

Your music blasting in both your ears

Trying to hide your fitness fears

You feel really great from the neck up

Trying to reach for your drinking cup

The workout over and you’ve just survived

Although at times you nearly cried

No Pain No Gain is what they say

Not sure my body will take another day!

My Prayer

Maybe I don’t pray as much as I could

But the big man upstairs knows I do good

I try and live with good morals and honesty

I hope 2014 will be the year I want it to be

I pray for health for family and friends

And that their happiness never ends

I pray that they will always strong

As sometimes life can be so very wrong

I pray for peace for us all to enjoy

As getting along is an important joy

I pray for children not to be hungry anymore

The government should pass a suitable law

I pray that cruelty stops now for all

And people have the courage to make that call

I pray that no one suffers any more violence

And that they find strength to end their silence

I pray for love for one another

Especially for my father and my mother

I pray that you find that special relationship

And that you forge a new lasting friendship

I pray that the cold will no longer be cold

And that we never forget the young and the old

I pray for the sick to be finally healed

And the NHS grant to be confirmed and sealed

I pray for the lonely to have company

And for people to have empathy

I pray for more smiles on people’s faces

And hope they travel to interesting places

I pray that god will hear this simple list

And prove to people he does exist

I pray that each of you who read this prayer

Will show each other love and care
