You don’t notice me

I see you walking round

In your usual perfect way

Always in my thoughts

And there you will stay

I tried to talk to you once

The words wouldn’t come out

The moment had passed

“Hi” I wanted to shout

Something special happened

Just this very morning

We had a conversation

Hope it wasn’t boring

The dark clouds moved

The sky is now blue

All I every wanted

My wish to come true

I said I would help

In any way I could

Will I get used again?

My thoughts began to flood

My next move waits

What do I need t do?

Maybe get your number

I really haven’t a clue

A week passed by

Until I saw you again

You never looked so good

In the pouring rain

As I approached the door

My heart beating fast

Has my chance gone?

This could be my last

You turned you head quickly

My eyes looked down

What I wanted to say

“Do you fancy a drink in town?”

But you looked through me

As if I wasn’t there

You didn’t notice me

So no change there!

A Saturday at B&Q

Its 7am and no customers around

We’re all waiting for that very first pound

The till workers chatting ready for the day

Most with a hangover or so they say

It’s nearly 9 and I’m due a break

Think the security is on the take

A thief walking round with a drill in his pocket

He tries to match it with the right drill socket

Lunch time comes and the staff room’s the place to be

Cracking jokes and sipping hot tea

An argument breaks out about the night before

Someone throws a punch and someone hits the floor

Back in the shop and it’s all hustle and bustle

A problem at returns with a man called Russell

He wants to return an unwanted Christmas tree

But we can’t do that It’s February you see

A paint tin falls with an almighty crash

She’ll come out with a terrible rash

One thing on her mind, she’ll definitely sue

Welcome to the world of B&Q

If the Weather

If the weather is…

Waiting to hear what the weather man will say

We then prepare and dress for the day

If the clouds are over and rain is in the sky

Umbrellas up and wellies knee high

If the trees are swaying and it’s blowing a gale

Get on your boat and put up your sail

If there is white in the sky and the snow drops

Please stay in doors while the country stops

If you can’t see your neighbour, the one over the road

Then driving in the fog consult your highway code!

If the sun is out and there is no cloud for miles

Look at other people and see their smiles

If coming to our country then please please prepare

Enjoy our weather and always take care

Cheat

Cheat

Things were good

We talked a lot

All the worries

I forgot

We took our time

Loved each other

Years went by

Didn’t want another

That all changed

One summer night

You came home

Things not right

I asked you why

You wouldn’t say

My heart crushed

The price you pay

Out the door

Down the road

My heart will mend

Or so I’m told

 Heard from friends

You met a guy

My eyes closed

I began to cry

Moving on

So very hard

Met nice girls

Put up my guard

One broke through

I couldn’t resist

Now I know

I can feel like this

She moved in

It was so sweet

Confirmed on facebook

Sent a tweet

My life so good

Our favourite song

My flame still lit

Our love still strong

Acceptance

Acceptance

Why is so hard to accept others?

I thought we were all meant to be sisters and brothers

Why do point and call people a name?

I thought we were all playing the same living game

Why do we argue, fight and cause war?

I thought being different was not against the law

Why don’t we accept that things sometimes change?

I thought we should embrace it if it’s in our range

Why don’t we live our lives and all get along?

I thought this would be ideal and it doesn’t seem wrong

Why does this continue in this day and age?

I thought we could start over on a new page

Christmas

We’ve arrived at that special time of year

To wish everyone happiness in the New Year

The exchanging of presents and Christmas joy

Wondering if Santa will bring you a toy

The festive season kicks off with a drink

You sit down quietly a begin to think

The year has had its ups and downs

Parts showing smiles and others showing frowns

We’ve lost some special people along the way

For them we simply bow and pray

New people have seamlessly entered our lives

We buy new clothes and look as sharp as knives

As we move in to a brand new year

Hope, friendship, laughter and fear

Anticipating hearing the old big bell

I’ll raise my glass and wish you well

Hillsborough

Hillsborough
An awful day when 96 died
So much so the whole city cried
Out of the tragedy they all told lies
Families could not say their final goodbyes

23 years on and the truth is finally out
Unfortunately the victims are unable to shout
Their lives and memory will never be forgotten
The government and police were found to be rotten

Next time you visit this special city of ours
Don’t just visit the museums and bars
Walk down Anfield road to the memorial flame
And remember the 96 from the semi-final game

The Perfect Song

The Perfect Song

Trying to write the perfect song

It’ll be about love but not too long

They’ll be a verse about flowers growing

And trees moving with the wind blowing

A girl and a guy will inevitably meet

It will start with an email or maybe a tweet

They’ll be a part where the lady will cry

And the guy will simple mumble why?

They fall apart then drift back together

It will probably rain knowing the weather

It will all end with an emotional kiss

Leaving us to think we want all this

We used to have manners

We used to have manners
We used to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ quite an awful lot
But now these are the words that society has forgot
We used to show respect to every woman, child and man
But now they don’t care not even for you nan

We used to stand in line quietly waiting for our turn
Now they scream and shout while their ciggies silently burn

We used to play in the park with our friends having fun
Now they seem to argue and not afraid to shoot a gun

We used to be the ones the generation before us would blame
Now they do something wrong and they want to make a claim
We used to turn up for work with pride or fear the sack
Now they need to show respect and bring some manners back

That Sunday Feeling

That Sunday Feeling

The day of worry has arrived

Saturday nights gone and you’ve survived

Now you have to get up and focus

Work your magic, ‘Hocus Pocus’

You have your work on the floor scattered

You look around your head is battered

Searching for something but where do you start?

They never told you about this part

Finally you think you have the week planned

You started marking but that soon got canned

Is it too soon to reach for the wine?

More work to do I’ll have it after nine

It’s eight pm and you’ve worked since ten

Only a week to do before you do it all again

Next Saturday night out is so appealing

Only the following day you’ll have that Sunday feeling

Distance

Distance

You decided the distance was too far

You were always moving the relationship bar

I would have moved to be with you

You change your mind, what can I do?

We decided to meet one last time

The meeting was a bit sublime

I thought there was a fighting chance

To hold you in my arms for one last dance

As you walked away you didn’t look back

My heart running on the emotional track

Fearing the worst I had to move on

Always knowing you were the one

The journey home I cried a tear

Knowing it will be another year

Before I grace this international shore

Hoping my heart will have found a cure
