Another school year over

It’s finally arrived the end is nigh

To our class we say our final goodbye

We shared the success the year brought

The laughs, the tears, the battles fought

September we met with excitement and enthusiasm

It took a while but you finally got sarcasm

I promised you if you listened and worked hard

You would remain off the dreaded report card

Half term over and we are getting along fine

Although we’re still having problems standing in a line

December approaching and the festive season begins

Trying to find the decorations left in the storage bins

The nativity story told by the youngest group

No stable available so the set’s a chicken coop

The older children perform a simple choir service

A few toilet accidents, everyone’s feeling nervous

The New Year blues and it’s hard to go back

Trying to stay off but will probably get the sack

Nothing much to look forward to in this short term

The children a bit wild but I must remain firm

Searching the school for the ordered yellow card

Making chickens and eggs can’t be that hard

An Easter bonnet parade and decorated eggs

‘Let my child win’ a parent blatantly begs

Tests and exams and the kids feel the stress

They don’t mean much I have to confess

We sail through and the kids did alright

Even the red table came out looking bright!

The summer arrives with the usual splash

Day trips booked without any clash

Sports day called off because of the rain

A text sent out to try and do it again

The final school day filled with joy and sorrow

But looking forward to no school tomorrow

A great year with so many things to remember

We’ll see you all again the 1st September

My Putter

My Putter (Theme Delilha by Tom Jones)

I saw the club in my hands as I walked up to my shot

I saw the shuffling feet as I chipped to the green

I was going to par it

I saw the putter pull back and it turned once more

My My My a bogie

Why Why Why a bogie

I could see the putter was no good for me

I threw it back in my bag and walked the next tee

At the next whole my driver it couldn’t go any better

It missed a pond, I was glad, I could have been wetter

I chipped on for a par

I saw the putter pull back and it turned once more

My My My a bogie

Why Why Why a bogie

Before I putt I must line my shot up

Try bit harder, next year with another cup

(Instrumental)

I bought a new putter

I put the putter in my hand and they laughed no more

Why why why no bogie

My my my a birdie

So before I put I look at the green once more

I get more pars my putting no longer poor

I get more pars my putting no longer poor

Hard to say goodbye

Never wanting to leave trying hard to stay

As soon as I arrived dreading this fateful day

The joyful smiles soon turn into sorrow

Knowing goodbye will be tomorrow

We try and hide our feelings for each other

You walk back slowly greeted by your worried mother

In her arms your shoulders gradually sink

My heart wanting my head to have a re-think

A final glance as you tilt your tear filled eyes

Difficult to look I stare to the cloudless skies

Don’t have the answer to our emotional stress

How did we end up in this relationship mess?

Standing at the station have I made a mistake?

Realising my feeling were true and not fake

If only she was here so I could tell her once more

It’s her I love; it’s her that I adore

Suddenly I turn as I hear her screaming voice

I know I’ve made the perfect choice

We both embrace, our emotions running high

You know it’s right when it’ hard to say goodbye

The Unknown Child

Every six seconds, in this tormented world, a child dies
Normally because of some government lies
Taking aid not distributing the wealth
Not caring about a poor child’s health

One of the children could grow to be a dancer
Or another one could solve the disease we call cancer
Some could be content with a family and a home
Or being a pilot flying to and from Rome

The truth of the matter is we will never know
As the world government sinks to an all time low
The child’s death becoming an unpleasant statistic
The human race up in arms, ballistic

The children used as pawns as a bargaining tool
They only wanted to live and be educated in a school
Their lives ended but their memory filed
Please stop the death of an unknown child

The Sun Will Rise Once More

The sun has faded on the darkened path

A tear shed no reason to laugh

Refusing to listen don’t want to talk

Don’t want to leave the house for an emotional walk

A recluse who sits at home forgetting real life

A heart ripped apart by a razor sharp knife

Not knowing what will happen, head in a spin

A fight that must be fought, a fight to win

The news leaked and the flock begin to meet

Neighbours whispering in the cold, empty street

Once proud a shadow of a former self

Realising money is no substitute for health

How long to live? The question to ask

Unsure of the answer, a difficult task

Days, weeks, months maybe even years

A handkerchief required to wipe away the lonely tears

The illness researched and a glimmer of hope

Life reluctantly balanced on the thinnest tight rope

An operation needed, you enter the hospital door

Success at last, now the sun will rise once more

Pace of Life

We try to keep up with everyone in a very materialistic way

Listening to others but not hearing what they say

Your mind distracted by so many other things going on

And of course you know you can’t take it when you’re gone

24 hour shopping means families working different hours

Not seeing each other like ships passing through London Bridge Towers

Weekends now another two days that are part of the working week

Spending time together is what families really seek

Rushing around from the school drop off, bank and gym

No time to spare you’ve reached your brim

You constantly say to people ‘Sorry I can’t stop’

Picking up your mum to help with her weekly shop

So when do you relax and take some much needed reflection

Instead of working all the hours for a small cash injection

Try and leave a bit early and take things a little slower

Phone a friend for an overdue chat on the blower

Life’s clock is ticking and you can’t turn back the hands of time

Not spending it with loved ones is surely an unforgiving crime

So take a look at your pace of life and think about what means more

Money and materials or spending it with people whom you adore

The Sun Has Finally Arrived

We’ve been waiting for this weekend since the beginning of May

How long will it last, who can say?

You clean your sunglasses and get out the summer chairs

Two of them your neighbours, you forgot you borrowed theirs

The smell of a BBQ from the gardens all around

The children in the paddling pool making a joyful sound

Dad’s beer in the cold ice bucket ready to drink

The wine in the cooler mum’s missing link

Families playing sports in the overcrowded park

Not wanting to move until it’s very nearly dark

Kites flying high with the help of the breeze

Children drinking a slush and getting a brain freeze

Picnics set out with strawberries and cream

This is the life we all dare to dream

Relaxing on the lounger definitely Pimms O’clock

Fruits at the ready and a mountain of ice in stock

A few families get together for a rounders match

Dad looking grumpy as some kid made a catch

Mum laughs as Dad walks back with shame

Trying to remember the kid’s unusual name

The ice cream van with a queue a mile long

A woman walks past trying to hide her visible thong

A delicious ice cream with a simple chocolate flake

The weather so hot we may all begin to bake

A few people red they’ll be sore tomorrow

Surely someone had sun tan lotion they could borrow

Strap marks down to try and sort out their tan

A child running round with a battery powered fan

The weather looks like its set for a short while

Which will hopefully make people muster a smile?

A party or gathering with a few crazy friends

Best get planning for the next couple of weekends

A True Champion

It seemed a special tournament right from the start

Big names falling and Andy blowing others apart

Nadal went early and Federer soon followed

‘Come on Andy’ the crowd loudly bellowed

Into the semi final and the nerves soon began

The pressure of the nation together as one fan

After a nervous beginning he was soon in his stride

To lift the nation and let us beam with pride

Sunday upon us and a glorious day a head

‘I’ll do my best’ is what Andy quietly said

Playing down the expectation but will it work

You know if he wins the nation will go berserk

He enters centre court with his professional face

After 77 years of waiting history could take place

His desire to make every ball and deliver the perfect shot

Down the line, cross court he kept pulling them from the pot

The crowd looking on from good old Henman Hill

Some people unable to watch, feeling quite ill

The final shot of the match and a standing ovation

A Scottish tennis player that lifted the British Nation

At last a British Champion at SW19

Fred Perry was the last one the nation had seen

We hope the next one comes along in a hurry

But for now the Wimbledon Champion is our own Andy Murray

Hurt

I never knew you were capable of the lies and deceit

I never knew you were capable of becoming a cheat

I feel as if I no longer know who you really are

You’ve left behind one hell of a relationship scar

The long nights you told me you were working late

We were destined to be couple brought together by fate

I used to feel sorry for you while sitting at home alone

Waiting patiently for a text or a call on the phone

The hurt you caused will live with me forever

Not sure if I can trust again but you never say never

We often laughed at little things that used to annoy us

Now the only contact between us through our lawyers

I cried myself to sleep the night I discovered the truth

The language I wanted to use was definitely uncouth

The pictures of us together burnt in a orange blaze of fire

My heart broken by a treacherous liar

How do I escape this world I am now in?

My emotions shot by you committing a sin

My brave face you see and my emotions calm

I’m still in disbelief that you could cause such harm

You Caught My Eye

Although I’ve seen you many times before

You seemed different when you walked through the door

Was it your hair, your clothes, your million dollar smile?

My feelings fighting my head strong denial

As the night progressed and we shared conversation

Now my feelings exploding without hesitation

Your warmth personality, your unique style

I could walk with you mile after mile

The flirting began with a simple effective touch

Your hand on my arm it brushed it, not much

It was enough to show you were interested in me

Your body language more than the eye could see

We left the night with a sparkly goodbye

Knowing our lustful feelings would not lie

The moment now passed another night gone

Who would have thought, you could be the one!
