Another school year over

It’s finally arrived the end is nigh

To our class we say our final goodbye

We shared the success the year brought

The laughs, the tears, the battles fought

September we met with excitement and enthusiasm

It took a while but you finally got sarcasm

I promised you if you listened and worked hard

You would remain off the dreaded report card

Half term over and we are getting along fine

Although we’re still having problems standing in a line

December approaching and the festive season begins

Trying to find the decorations left in the storage bins

The nativity story told by the youngest group

No stable available so the set’s a chicken coop

The older children perform a simple choir service

A few toilet accidents, everyone’s feeling nervous

The New Year blues and it’s hard to go back

Trying to stay off but will probably get the sack

Nothing much to look forward to in this short term

The children a bit wild but I must remain firm

Searching the school for the ordered yellow card

Making chickens and eggs can’t be that hard

An Easter bonnet parade and decorated eggs

‘Let my child win’ a parent blatantly begs

Tests and exams and the kids feel the stress

They don’t mean much I have to confess

We sail through and the kids did alright

Even the red table came out looking bright!

The summer arrives with the usual splash

Day trips booked without any clash

Sports day called off because of the rain

A text sent out to try and do it again

The final school day filled with joy and sorrow

But looking forward to no school tomorrow

A great year with so many things to remember

We’ll see you all again the 1st September
